Administrative Director's Invitation

Dear Members & Guests -

As I was pulling together information for this annual message, I discovered that I originally looked into the Jiminy Peak property back in the early 1990s.  Jiminy Peak was actually first established in 1948 as a ski resort and then went on to become a fully-equipped conference center.  Over the years, they have added many fun things to do.

Jiminy Peak is made up of several buildings.  When you arrive, you will go to the Registration Desk in The Country Inn.  This building is where all of the sleeping rooms are located, the Fireside Lounge and Fisher I & II for our Friday night function, outdoor pool, Fitness Center, and indoor Jacuzzi and sauna.  Our Scientific Session and Exhibits will be in The Crane Center in Crane Lodge.  Christiansen’s Tavern has a rustic, casual atmosphere and will be our destination for Saturday night’s Family Berkshire Barbeque.  All of these venues offer great views of the ski slopes that bring many participants out into the crisp air each winter season.

In the summertime, Jiminy Peak offers quite an assortment of activities.  Mountain Adventure Park comes alive with many attractions for you to play, ride, swing, slide and climb on.  The Berkshire Express chairlift will take you to the top of the mountain to offer you breathtaking views of Mt. Greylock and the Jericho Valley.

Another very interesting piece of information is that Jiminy Peak is the only resort in the United States to have an onsite wind turbine – affectionately named Zepher – to reduce the electrical demand of running a conference center/ski resort on the local grid.  Tours can be arranged for those interested in finding out all the facts on Zepher.

The weekend is again casual and relaxed - except for the Scientific Sessions of course!  Since we have planned a Family Berkshire Barbeque for Saturday Night, it seemed to me that jeans were in order, along with boots and a shirt (or top) that is REALLY COOL!  Let's have some more fun.  For all of you shoppers out there, Williamstown is the place to go, or maybe you would like to take a trip into Pittsfield to check out the city.  Golfers will have the opportunity to play the Donnybrook course, a short drive from Jiminy Peak.

So, once again we have a great weekend in store for you and your family.  Come to The Berkshires on June 4th through June 6th for a wonderful reunion with colleagues, friends and family.  On behalf of our President, Dr. Gary J. Price, we look forward to having you join us for the 51st annual Meeting of the New England Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons.

Sincerely,

Charlotte Constantian
